In 1853, Gustave Toudouze, a french scientist, left a promising career as a collegiate professor in France to raise a family and pioneer a homestead on the rich and untamed prairie lands of south Texas. Famous for his vegetable gardens and lush orchards, it was his love of the land and determined innovation that served as a precursor for over five generations of Texas farmers. Over the last 160 years, the land has yielded wheat, corn, peanuts, and now turfgrass.

Atascosa county farmer and rancher, Jimmy Seay, married the great granddaughter of Gustave Toudouze and began growing peanuts in the 1960s.  As a longtime Director of the Atascosa County Soil and Water Conservation District, Mr. Seay impressed upon his family the value of improving and protecting the soil, water and other natural resources. A leading member of the peanut industry and a recent retiree from the Texas Peanut Producers' Board,  Mr. Seay set standards for quality and integrity.

Today, two of Seay's daughters specialize in producing the highest quality turfgrass.  Owned and operated by Joyce Seay Goss and Pat Seay Cox along with Clyde "Chico" Cox, Legacy Turfgrass remains true to its core values of hard work and determination while delivering quality products with unmatched customer service.
